EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 2, 2021) - Dustin Strand continued his title defenses last weekend as he ran with the NLRA at Grand Rapids Speedway, then returned to River Cities Speedway on Friday night, scoring a top-10 run.
On Thursday, Strand followed the NLRA to Grand Rapids Speedway in Grand Rapids, MN, as the series visited the track for the first time since 2010.
Dustin finished fifth in his heat race, setting him up with the 17th starting spot for the 25-lap main event. Strand made steady progress through the field throughout the race, finishing in the 12th spot.
"It was fun to go over there," Strand said about his night at Grand Rapids. "I put us behind the 8-ball in the heat race. I misjudged what we were gonna have, and that put us pretty deep in the feature."
Returning home for another Friday night at River Cities, Strand charged from sixth to second in his heat race, giving him the ninth starting spot for the 20-lap main event.
Strand improved to eighth on the opening lap, and climbed up to seventh on lap 14, where he ended the race.
Dustin Strand kept his top-10 streak at River Cities alive, as he finished seventh in the Late Model feature. He'll head into this week's race as the point leader by three points.
Strand has three nights with the NLRA Late Models on tap this weekend starting on Friday night at River Cities Speedway as the NLRA co-headlines with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, then he and the 71 crew will head to I-94 Speedway for the Dick Johanneck Memorial on Saturday night.
The weekend concludes on Sunday at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN, as the series returns to the quarter-mile for the first time in six years, where Strand will return as the most recent NLRA winner at the speedway.
"It's always a big crowd, [at River Cities WoO] so it's usually a lot of fun. [Glyndon] should be fun. It's always tight quarters on that little track, but it should be a lot of fun."
Dustin and the entire Strand Racing team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
