Strand races to Modified victory at River Cities

EAST GRAND FORKS, MINN. (August 11, 2020) - It was a big weekend for the No. 71 team as Dustin Strand pulled double duty at his home track, River Cities Speedway. He picked up the win in the Modified and finished second with the Late Model.

Thirteen WISSOTA Modifieds were checked in and ready to battle for 20 laps. Aaron Holtan was on the pole with Strand to his outside. Holtan jumped to the early lead and led lap one, but out of turn four on lap two Strand took the lead and never looked back, picking up his fourth Modified win of the season.

“This car is just an animal. Each and every time we’re on the track, it just runs awesome. I’ve got to thank my crew for that a lot of work goes into it, especially trying to run two cars like we are tonight,” said Strand after his win.

Dustin started his Late Model night with a heat race win, lining him up eighth on the starting grid for the 20-car, 20-lap feature. He fell back a spot after the completion of the first lap, but quickly began moving his way forward. By lap 10 he had methodically worked his No. 71 machine into the fourth spot. He took advantage of the leaders hitting lapped traffic and moved himself up to second.

Strand is now 14 points behind Brad Seng in River Cities Speedway Late Model track points.

On Saturday, the team unloaded the Millenium SRT Modified at Greenbush Race Park and picked up the heat race win after starting fourth.

Strand lined up seventh in the 10-car feature, but was only able to advance to the sixth spot.

Next week, Strand will be gunning for back-to-back wins at the Bullring as the Modifieds return this Friday. On Saturday, he will look to extend his 56-point lead atop the NLRA standings as the Late Models return to Greenbush Race Park.
