Strand gears up for return to Norman County tonight, WoO Late Models on Friday

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 16, 2020) – Dustin Strand makes a return to one of his old stomping grounds tonight as Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. host the WISSOTA Modifieds for the first time since 2014. 

No stranger to the high-banked three-eighths mile oval, Strand is one of the winningest drivers in the history of Norman County. Strand has amassed 45 career wins across four different divisions at the speedway, led by 22 victories in the Midwest Modifieds. He also has collected 11 Modified feature wins, along with a win each in the Super Stock and with the NLRA Late Models. 

Coming off a two-win weekend that stretched his win streak to three, Strand is looking to keep the momentum rolling and pick up his fourth consecutive checkered flag. 

On Friday night, Strand will head back to his home track, River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks as the Bullring hosts the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models. 

Strand is the most recent Late Model winner at River Cities as he picked up his second consecutive win at the track last Friday night. 

After starting sixth on the grid, Strand took advantage of an early race restart to move from fifth to second. From there, he chased down and passed Brody Troftgruben for the lead around the halfway point. Once out front, Strand checked out and cruised to the win. 

“This thing was really bad on the top,” said Strand of how well his car worked on the high side of the speedway. “I was kind of pinned on the bottom at the beginning and worked my way forward. Under that yellow, I checked the top and thought ‘yep, it’ll work tonight’. That was a heck of a fun race. This car has been bad fast.”

On Saturday night, Strand returned to victory lane at Greenbush Race Park after a dominating performance during the WISSOTA Modified feature. Strand started on the outside of the front row and led all 20 trips around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval en route to his second Modified win of 2020.
