STRAND EYES SIXTH RIVER CITIES LATE MODEL TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (August 29, 2023) - With one more night of track points on the line at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, Dustin Strand helped inch closer to his next track championship last Friday night by finishing second in the main event in the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing and Heating / Keewatin Truck Service Millenium SRT.

After charging from seventh to second in his heat race, Strand rolled off on the outside of the third row in the 25-lap main event last Friday night at River Cities Speedway. Strand fell back to as low as seventh following a lap two restart but moved into the top five on lap six.

Improving to fourth on lap nine, Strand closed in on Joey Pederson for third. With the leaders entering lapped traffic, Strand took third in turn four at the conclusion of lap 11.

Remaining third through thick traffic at the midway point, a caution on lap 18 saw Strand lineup to the outside of Brody Troftgruben as the race went back green.

Strand took second and held it through the final caution with four laps to go, eventually finishing the race as the runner-up.

Strand heads into Friday night with a 35-point lead over Brad Seng. Strand won his first Late Model title at the speedway in 2015, eventually going on a four-year streak of championships. Strand last won the title in the class in 2020.

The championship would also be Strand's tenth at the track. Strand won the final Super Stock championship in 2006 and followed that up by winning the first two Midwest Mod titles in 2007 and 2008. Strand's other championship was a third Midwest Mod crown in 2011.
