​Strand collects top 10 at I-94; Returns to Grand Rapids & River Cities next

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (May 26, 2021) - Dustin Strand made his way to the I-94 Sure Step Speedway last Friday night for the first time in nearly three years, collecting a top 10, as the defending NLRA series champion started his title defense.

Strand started his night at the I-94 Speedway with a heat win from the outside of the front row, earning a spot in the NLRA re-draw.

Redrawing the sixth spot for the main event, Strand rolled out outside of the third row for the first NLRA 25-lap main event of the 2021 campaign.

Strand ran eighth through the first caution with three laps completed. During the following seven lap green flag segment, Strand briefly fell outside the top 10, but restarted ninth with 15 laps to go.

Strand used the top side of the tricky three-eights mile oval to move back up to seventh, re-starting eighth after another caution with 11 remaining.

After holding off Cole Schill and Brody Troftgruben at the beginning of the final green flag run of the race, Strand began a charge back towards the front of the field.

Strand used the low line to move past Shawn Kirwin, Chuck Swenson, and nearly took eighth at the fall of the checkered flag, finishing in the ninth position.

This week, the Strand Racing team will head back to the Grand Rapids Speedway in Grand Rapids, Minn. for the return of NLRA Late Model action at the speedway for the first time since 2010. Strand will then return to River Cities on Friday night, two weeks after winning both the Modified and Late Model features.
