Busy weekend nets pair of Late Model runner-up results for Strand

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 13, 2023) - Three more Late Model races are in the books for Dustin Strand, earning a pair of runner-up finishes in the No. 71 Bemidji Marine / Shocks by Hammer Millenium SRT at Norman County Raceway and in Northern Late Model Racing Association action at Greenbush Race Park.

Strand started his week of racing on Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, running fifth in his heat race. Rolling off fourth in the main event, Strand made a pair of passes in the first two laps on Jason Strand and Mitch Johnson to move into the runner-up spot. Strand went on to finish second.

On Friday night at River Cities Speedway, Strand improved from fifth to third in his heat race. Starting mid pack in the 20 lap feature, Strand was able to start climbing from his starting spot on the outside of row six, when four yellow flags flew in a period of four laps around the midway point of the race.

Making up five spots between laps ten and twelve, Strand went on to make one final pass with three to go on Brody Troftgruben to finish one spot shy of a top five with a sixth place run.

On Saturday night, Strand made the trip north to follow the NLRA tour to Minnesota's Greenbush Race Park, where he started the evening having to climb from fifth again, but this time finishing second.

Taking the initial green on the outside of row two in the 25 lap main event, Strand immediately moved into a podium spot, where he remained until the final laps. Strand reeled in Brad Seng late in the race, as the pair traded the second and third spots five times in the final eight laps. Strand won the battle, finishing second for the second time in three nights. 

Strand will head to Sheyenne Speedway in Lisbon, ND on Thursday before doing double duty again this Friday night at River Cities as the track hosts both Late Models and Modifieds.
