Strand Wins Sixth Feature of the Season with Mid-Season Title Win at River Cities

East Grand Forks, Minn. (July 15, 2024) - Dustin Strand continued his winning ways last week, winning the Mid-Season Championship at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Strand's win was his fourth at the Bullring so far this season and sixth overall behind the wheel of the No. 71 Walhalla Builders / Mattracks Longhorn.

Strand started the night at River Cities winning his heat race. Strand won the heat by two seconds as his Sturdy Engine sang far out in front of the field on the high-banked quarter-mile.

Strand started on the pole for the 25-lap Mid-Season championship feature and led the opening lap over Brad Seng. Strand started working lapped traffic on lap eight but was already in front by a straightaway before a caution erased his advantage on lap nine.

A great restart for Strand saw him back out in front by a half straight away in the first laps following the caution. The final caution with eight to go saw Strand again pull away from Seng and Shane Edginton. Strand led every lap en route to his fourth win at the Bullring so far in 2024.

“[The car] would go anywhere, the car was really good,” Strand said in victory lane post-race. “I didn't know what we were gonna have. The heat race was pretty hammer down and I didn't get to watch the B-mods so I didn't know if it was slickening off but usually when the sun goes down, it gets faster here and it did.”

On Saturday night, Strand headed to Devils Lake Speedway for the 6th Annual Walhalla Building Center Golder Hammer Classic where he charged from seventh to third in his heat race.

Strand started 11th in the 40-lap feature and climbed inside the top ten on lap four. Strand's bad luck at the Classic continued as he was racing for sixth on lap 26. Strand and Shane Edginton made contact which damaged the front suspension too severely for Strand to continue. He was credited with a 19th place finish.

The NLRA heads to Aberdeen, SD for another crown jewel in our area, “The Rumble” on Friday and Saturday at Brown County Speedway.
