Strand Chalks up 40th Top Five of the Season During Silver 1000 Debut

East Grand Forks, Minn. (Oct. 1, 2024) - Dustin Strand continued the Fall Special season last week with his Silver 1000 debut at Proctor Speedway in Proctor, MN and made the five-hour trip to Minnesota's North Shore pay dividends as he scored his 40th top five in the 2024 campaign.

Strand finished second after starting third in his heat race to start the night in Proctor and drew the sixth starting spot for the 52nd annual Silver 1000 40-lap main event.

Strand ripped around the top of the 3/8th mile red clay oval, moving into the top five past veteran Lance Matthees on the first lap. The pair continued to race door-to-door on lap two before Strand moved to the inside of Jamie Lautigar to take the fourth spot using the inside line in turns one and two on lap four.

Strand continued to hold the fourth spot following a pair of lap six cautions, including a turn two pile up that briefly brought the race to a stop. With the wreck cleaned up, Strand continued to run in the fourth spot during a nearly ten lap green-flag stint before the third and final caution on lap 15.

Strand went door-to-door with Ashley Anderson when the race resumed and tried to continue to hold the fourth spot. The pair caught up to Jeff Provinzino and made it a three-car battle for the final spot on the podium at the midway point.

Strand remained inside the top five for the entire 40-lap race, coming home with a fifth place finish following the final 25-lap green-flag stint that ended the event.

Strand’s most recent top five was his 40th of the 2024 season in the Late Model and Modified combined. Strand has only finished outside the top five once since July 19th when he was a DNF on the opening night of the Seitz Memorial in the Modified. That’s a 26-1 stretch of top fives in his last 27 races, which includes 15 feature wins.
